A Note From the President:
To our Reno/Tahoe Event Family,
What a surreal time this has been. Surreal is putting it lightly as so many of our friends, colleagues, and partners have been hit hard by COVID-19. It seems like overnight, the events industry shutdown and so many of us were stopped in our tracks. A time of planning, developing, and collaborating quickly turned into salvaging, protecting, distancing, and searching for relief.
Those that I’ve talked to, who are seasoned veterans in the event community, have tried to compare the recent turn of events to previous catastrophes that affected our industry, but nothing really seems to compare. The only similarities I’ve found so far in this has been the qualities and traits found in the people of this professional community. We are an extremely resilient, tenacious, and tough group of professionals that know how to adapt. While we may not have any of the answers right now as to what the future looks like, we do know what we are capable of, and must have faith that this too shall pass. Things may look a little different when we come out of this, but that is where our creative and business savvy brains will kick into overdrive and lead us to success.
Right now is a time to physically distance while staying socially and emotionally attached. The events/hospitality industry was one of the hardest hit throughout the world because of this pandemic and we need a sense of community now more than ever. NACE has always been about community and I feel lucky to be a very small part of it. As a board we will continue to support our members however we can and will embody the spirit of the amazing event professionals in our area and across the globe. Please continue to connect with your fellow event professionals and reach out when you need help. Stay safe, stay healthy, and know that we are all in this together.

Our Chapter is currently looking to resume in-person programming in late June. This is of course dependent upon the evolving Covid-19 situation.
