Give Back with the Foundation of NACE and Together We Rise
Even if you are not traveling to Cincinnati for NACE Experience in July, you can still give back to the community. The Experience Community Service Project will collect, decorate, pack and donate 100 duffle bags filled with toiletries, fun items and hope for children entering foster care. We are seeking donations for the following items: toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, combs, books, coloring books, toys (non-choking hazard items), stuffed animals, blankets, and water bottles.
If you would like to donate items, please contact [email protected]. Any donation is appreciated.
Hi! I’m Karie MacLeod the name and face behind She Said Yes Weddings. We are a wedding planning company based right here in Reno servicing the Reno/Lake Tahoe area! If you would have asked me 10 years ago what I would be doing, career wise, I’d never say I’d be in the wedding industry! She Said Yes literally is a dream come true! I was born and raised in the great state of Oklahoma! I was raised up to love Ok State Football, wheat fields and Sunday mornings. I have always been a rule follower, a creative that love’s love and love’s people (cheesy, but I really do!) I definitely have a servant’s heart.
One of my biggest accomplishments is being a Mom of our two boys and a Wife to Alex, the other half of this company. I don’t think there are many people like me: I’m not spontaneous, I don’t love to travel, I’m very much a black and white kind of girl (I don’t live in a grey area) and I’m a bit of a homebody. But I do love to be around people, to entertain and as long as there is a cold Dr. Pepper around, I’m all in! I’m a huge college football fan, I think the color brown is beautiful and think hoodies and yoga pants are the best outfits.
She Said Yes Weddings is still a baby company, but we have had substantial growth over the past few years. I’m so humble to say that our 5-year plan happened in a about a year and a half. We focus on wedding planning only, minus elopements. We tried that and it wasn’t my jam so I will gladly pass those along. As long as we vibe with a couple we are willing to say yes to planning their wedding. Anyone who has worked with us knows we take a positive team approach to planning a wedding. Creating a team atmosphere at every wedding is my goal.
While I am busy planning weddings, I have also started engaging in more speaking opportunities. I love supporting local businesses, speaking at local events and having an opportunity to motivate others to be the best version of themselves. I’m all about positivity. I check in on people, I want to know people are ok. I am a thank you card writer, not in email but actual cards. I want people to know they are important and thought about.
Professional Successes: She Said Yes Weddings is a two-time “Best-Of” winner for Reno News & Review Wedding Planner for 2017 and 2018. We are the president of Weddings of the West and a member of the Elite Wedding Team for South Lake Tahoe.
There comes a time in everyone’s career journey where you are seeking more. More engagement, more networking and interactions with highly professional people. I love evolving and I don’t think I will ever view myself or my company as a finished product. I want to learn, grow and become better than I could ever imagine. The only way to achieve this growth is to be around people who are like-minded, goal orientated and pushers. NACE has some of this area’s best and it’s been such an honor to be welcomed into this group.
